NOT ALL SCENTS ARE CREATED EQUAL
Lure fishing for Bream for over 25 years and lucky for me the ‘Addiction” started in the early stages. Sydney Harbour and surrounding areas were generally the areas I fished at and during those early stages not many people knew what fishing for Bream on lures was all about. I remember having to buy lures from America as we could not find anything in Australia to suit the small profile soft plastics we used. Additional to that we hardly used scents at all, fish were uneducated and unpressured. These Bream had never seen a soft plastic grub tail or small crankbait in their lives and would hit our lures with gusto, no soft pecking or playing with the lure, pretty much hit it and run.
Fast forward 25 years how the game as changed. Our waterways are pressured every day as competitive and social anglers try and crack that 40cm Sydney Harbour Bream. There is no doubt that these fish have become wiser and are consistently harder to catch on lures, especially on tournament day where the Bream have been hit for weeks in advance leading up to a competition.
ENTER DIZZY SCENT XXX
Adam Maddalena (I call him "The Cook") from Dizzy Scent is a passionate fisho, all round great guy and a wizz at creating lure scents. Doing business with Adam was easy, when we approached him with an idea over 6 months ago he jumped at the chance to work with the Tackle Addiction team. Nothing was an issue for Adam, the team at Dizzy Scent worked tirelessly with us to make all the ingredients work together and bind into a potent gel. The end game was to create a scent like nothing else on the market, no expense spared.
The majority of scents that are available are designed for a broader use, for example - saltwater/freshwater, have 3 basic ingredients, some scent, colour additive and inexpensive soft wax to make the scent into a gel. This keeps the cost low and mass production is the name of the game...
XXX is complete opposite, from the get go we told DIZZY SCENT we wanted a high quality scent to be made – only the best ingredients. There are 13 different additives in this scent, what makes XXX stand out is TRIPLE the amount of UV enhancement, bite stimulants and natural flavoured scent. These are the key differences that convert shy fish to bite (1) UV enhanced the fish can see your lure under all light conditions (2) the fish moves in and captures the SCENT trail (3) the customised BITE Stimulants make the fish react and want to either eat it or attack it, this cannot be learnt from a text book, time on the water and years of fishing for shy bream you learn a thing or two.
The feedback from tournament anglers who spend copious amounts of time on the water, trying to get the edge and learn something new to beat the competition – XXX is a recipe for success. We made so many changes due to fishos requesting something different, I think Adam created around 15 versions of this scent until we got it just right.
We wanted a scent specific to the Bream scene, and specific to anglers looking to get an edge on the competition.
The making of XXX is a lengthy process due to the specific ingredients added. This involves the scent needing to be "cooked" at a specific temperatures, cooled and re heated to another specific temperature then tumble dried to cool evenly. This is to ensure the additives bind together and do not separate during the process. What this means is the scent is made with the utmost of care that are specific to our standards.

It has to be made in small batches of around 100 tubes due to time restraints from the manufacturing process.
